Bio: Stan Lybarger

Stan Lybarger is president, chief executive officer and director of BOK Financial Corporation and its flagship subsidiary, Bank of Oklahoma, N.A. In his current position, Mr. Lybarger oversees a regional financial services company that provides commercial and consumer banking, investment and trust services, mortgage origination and servicing, and an electronic funds transfer network.

Mr. Lybarger has steered the company on a path of growth in Oklahoma and expansion into metropolitan markets in neighboring states. BOK Financial Corporation has more than tripled in size since he was appointed to his current position in 1996. Holdings include Bank of Albuquerque, N.A., Bank of Arizona, N.A., Bank of Arkansas, N.A., Bank of Oklahoma, N.A., Bank of Texas, N.A., Colorado State Bank and Trust, N.A., Bank of Kansas City, N.A., BOSC, Inc., the TransFund electronic funds network, Southwest Trust Company, N.A. and Cavanal Hill Investment Management.

He began his banking career in the management training program at Bank of Oklahoma in 1974 and held a variety of positions in different aspects of commercial banking before being named president of Bank of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. In 1989, he was named president and chief operating officer of Bank of Oklahoma and the predecessor holding company to BOK Financial Corporation.

Mr. Lybarger received his BA and MBA from the University of Kansas and has a certification from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

Community involvement includes service as the Chairman for the Tulsa Stadium Trust, 2008 Chairman for the Tulsa Metro Chamber, chairman and co-founder of the Oklahoma Business and Education Coalition, trustee of the OSU Lew Wentz Foundation, and past chairman of the Oklahoma Business Roundtable. He has also served as a trustee for the Tulsa Community Foundation, University of Tulsa, and the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation. He chaired the Tri-Chamber Task Force on Education, and served as chairman of The State Chamber in 1999 and campaign chairman for the Tulsa Area United Way in 1994. He has also served on other organizations supporting public education, the arts, and healthcare.

In June of 2005 Mr. Lybarger was appointed by Governor Henry to co chair with State Superintendent Sandy Garrett the Achieving Classroom Excellence (ACE) Act of 2005 (SB 982). The 19-member ACE Task Force studied state testing requirements for eighth grade and high school students, held public hearings, and made recommendations. The final result of the ACE Task Force was the passing of SB 1792 in 2006 which includes statewide end of course testing of high school students to determine eligibility for graduation, remediation for students who have fallen behind, and a default enrollment plan to encourage more rigorous course taking for Oklahoma.
